Pride in our Community – Footway Works Donnington

I am looking forward to this making our area look amazing!

Footway Improvements in your area – Donnington

We will shortly be working in your area as part of the Council’s ‘Pride in Our Community’ investment programme. Between 2018 and 2022 we are investing over £50m in creating a better borough with improvements to roads, footpaths, street lights, road signs, highways structures and green spaces.

In 2019/20 our aim is to further improve our road network and highway assets. Some £12m will be invested during the year, delivering 222 improvement schemes across the borough. These improvements will be achieved in partnership with the Council’s new highways contractor Balfour Beatty.

We will shortly be carrying out Footway Maintenance Improvements in the locations below, to improve the condition of the footpaths. The works will be completed by our new partner and highways contractor Balfour Beatty, who will be using their specialist sub-contractor JPCS.

Pre works will commence to improve the footways in the following locations prior to the resurfacing programme commencing in The New Year, the full programme in this area is due to be completed by the end of March 2020, weather permitting.

James Way
Leonard Close
West Avenue
Winifreds Drive
East Avenue
Park Road

We will be working between 07:30am-16:00pm on weekdays and will have our dedicated teams on site to assist you during this time to help you get past the working areas safely should you need to do so. Please ensure that children are supervised, do not play near the working areas and all pets are kept away from the works.

JPCS will hand deliver information leaflets to all properties affected by the works the day before the works commence in addition to the attached resident letter that will be delivered 2 weeks prior to works commencing on site. Further details are shown below.

How is the work completed?

Before the surface treatments start our contractors will be on site to complete any patching works which are required to prepare the surface of the footpath, replacing any damaged or broken kerbs.

Immediately before the surface treatment works, any utility or drainage covers will be raised to allow for the treatment, and the surface of the footpath will be pressure washed in order to remove debris before the treatment is applied. We will also visit the site to clear all of the debris, vegetation from the surface of the footpath, trimming back any vegetation which has overgrown onto the footpath.

With footpath maintenance we aim to treat entire areas rather than single streets, including the footpaths which provide links between streets, away from the carriageway.

Balfour Beatty will be the lead delivering this work in partnership with the Council and our details are below, for any questions or queries relating to this scheme please contact us at our new highways hub:
