Our Macmillan Coffee afternoon

On Friday 28th September we threw open our doors for an Open Afternoon for all of our parents, carers and families. Once everyone had toured the classrooms and viewed the children’s work they could enjoy cake and refreshments in the hall to raise money for Macmillan Nurses. We were delighted contributions raised nearly £400. Thank you everyone who contributed and bought cakes. We were also very proud to welcome Councillor Raj Mehta, the new mayor for Telford and Wrekin. He was very interested in the hard work of our pupils and staff as he toured the school.

St Matthews

St Matthew’s Church invites everyone on 22nd September to come and see a unique art installation featuring collages by pupils from local schools and community groups, and historic photographs of the people and places from this part of Telford. A video bringing to life the stories behind Telford’s history, as told by people who have lived Donnington over the last half a century will also be on display.

Visitors will be able to listen to local stories, browse the displays and add their own memories, too. There will be a quiz to test your knowledge and activities for all-ages to join in as well as light refreshments.

The Jade Singers Female Community Choir will finish the day in style with a concert of pop and show tunes.

This is the first event the church is holding since recent building works to improve the facilities. New toilet and kitchen facilities have been built and more space is now available for people to meet and talk. The work, which has been generously supported by the Veolia Environmental Trust, will also mean the church can support more events in the community.

The Bishop of Lichfield, Rt Revd Dr Michael Ipgrave will come and celebrate with the church and the community by leading a service the following day, 23 September. All are welcome to join the service and stay for light refreshments afterwards.

Whole School Open Afternoon

Whole School Open Afternoon and Macmillan Cake and Coffee Afternoon.

Friday 28th September, 1:30- 2:30

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It has been an amazing start to the year and we are very proud of the progress already being made. We would like to invite you in on Friday 28th September to see this first hand. The open afternoon is informal, with activities and games to play, a chance to look through your child’s book, visit the library, talk to the teachers and for your child to show you their work. You can arrive at any point during the afternoon.

Once you have finished in the class you will be able to go to the hall with your child for our Macmillian Coffee Afternoon to eat some delicious cake! If you are unable to attend, your child can bring money in and we will take them to buy some cake during the afternoon.

We do need any cake donations. We will send home a plate and a bag, please make sure any donations come in by the Friday morning. Last year we raised a fantastic £300!

Thank you for your continued support.
