St Matthew’s Church invites everyone on 22nd September to come and see a unique art installation featuring collages by pupils from local schools and community groups, and historic photographs of the people and places from this part of Telford. A video bringing to life the stories behind Telford’s history, as told by people who have lived Donnington over the last half a century will also be on display.
Visitors will be able to listen to local stories, browse the displays and add their own memories, too. There will be a quiz to test your knowledge and activities for all-ages to join in as well as light refreshments.
The Jade Singers Female Community Choir will finish the day in style with a concert of pop and show tunes.
This is the first event the church is holding since recent building works to improve the facilities. New toilet and kitchen facilities have been built and more space is now available for people to meet and talk. The work, which has been generously supported by the Veolia Environmental Trust, will also mean the church can support more events in the community.
The Bishop of Lichfield, Rt Revd Dr Michael Ipgrave will come and celebrate with the church and the community by leading a service the following day, 23 September. All are welcome to join the service and stay for light refreshments afterwards.
