Taster day next week – final details
Parking
Dear Car Drivers,
We are seeing more and more dangerous and illegal driving at the front gate.
As you will have seen this week there has been increased police and Traffic Enforcement presence to help our children.
Please, if you need to drive, can you use the car parks off the main road. See the attachment.
Pupils can then walk from there.
This will also stop parents getting stuck and doing dangerous and illegal moves in the road.

Transition Day letter 2026
I will be bringing this down to the infants soon.
Thank you all,
Mr Fox
Dear Year 2 parents/carers,
Welcome to Donnington Wood Church of England Junior School.
We would like to thank you for choosing our school as the next part of your childโs educational journey. It is especially important that in these challenging times, our school vision and values continue to help and guide all of us; to inspire hope, to encourage perseverance and to build friendships.
Our Transition Plan
On Tuesday 16th June, I will be visiting the Infant School to meet the children and tell them more about the Juniors.
On Wednesday 17th June 3:15- 3:45pm, we invite you to the Juniors for a treasure hunt and explore of the building and to meet the staff that work here. This is a great chance to help your child settle in.
Tuesday 7th July and Wednesday 8th July: Transition days
These are our formal transition days. On both days pupils will directly come to the Juniors for a 9:00 Start (later than usual to allow pupils to get to school from dropping siblings off)
School will finish at 2:30 for our Year 2s on these days (again, allowing more time to collect and get back to the infants). If you have an older child you may take them earlier.
On Tuesday 7th July, we will host an information session for all new Year 2 parents/carers at 2pm in the school.
We will be also running sessions down at the infants, including meeting with the staff there to get handovers and plan the classes for next year. There will also be some additional transfer times if needed.
We suggest you have a good look around our website to get a feel for and learn more about our school.
We will also give out the paperwork on Friday 5th June, please can you fill in and return the attached paperwork as soon as you can. This will allow us to process the information. We need this before they arrive on the transfer days.
SEND and Pastoral visits will also be happening, as well as a transition parent and child event.
If you have any questions, please ring the school.
We are so excited about welcoming you to the school.
Mr Fox

Some other initial things to know:
When you child starts the school they will be given a tablet to use at school, and in the future at home. The majority of our work and communication is online. If you need support getting access to internet please let us know.
Arbor: We will provide you with an access code to get onto Arbor. This is the only way to pay for lunches and trips. It is also the way we communicate with you.
SeeSaw and Family SeeSaw: Pupils complete the majority of their work on SeeSaw. This is an online platform to work on. Homework is also completed on SeeSaw.
With Family SeeSaw you will be able to log in and see your childโs work, and write positive comments. We are one of the only schools in the world that can offer this, and we are proud of the impact it has on supporting your child to achieve.
On the transition day we will be using and training the pupils to use the tablets.
We do also use books too, and are proud of the progress pupils make in their written work.
Gates Open at 8:22 and register is taken at 8:25 and finish at 2:55.
