Government Plans to Open

UPDATE 12/5/20

Good Morning All,

I am sure you are aware of the news last night in regards to schools and possibly opening again. Whereas we are excited about the ideas of this, we will not be able to provide further details until we know more.

The safety of your children is paramount, and as yet, without the information needed we cannot plan for the opening of the school.

When we have this, we will let you know by text and the website the plan.

What I would say is that this is a good time to start routines up again, and we will provide more information soon about this.

We will let you know more, when we know more, but rest assured it will be focus on keeping everyone safe; we will adhere to strict rules to ensure your child is kept safe and limit numbers in school.

Mr Fox

School Update 11 5 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

You will have heard the Prime Minister indicating that the government believes it may be in a position to implement a phased re-opening of schools from 1 June, starting with pupils in reception, year one and year six. This is part of the government’s conditional plan which it says will remain under regular review.

However, as any school member will tell you, the first priority has to be the safety of everyone in the school community.

We will continue to ensure that any plan to increase the number of pupils in schools has to be practicable and manageable. One worry is that, as broadly outlined last night, the government’s conditional plan may not be either of those things. In many cases it will be physically impossible to bring back the number of pupils being suggested and maintain any sense of social distancing.

At the moment I have no further information from the government about what this means for school. For now, in the short-term, nothing has changed, we are still open to children whose parents are key workers and cannot be cared for safely at home.

I will hopefully have an update on Friday; however, this is dependent on many different things happening.

Please keep checking the website and send us a text if you need anything.

Please keep on the website for work and online learning ideas.

As always, we are driven by our core values of Hope, Perseverance and Friendship.

Mr Fox and Team Donnington

Child online safety during lockdown: where to report
With children spending more time on the internet during lockdown, it’s more important than ever for parents and carers and their children to know the best reporting and support routes, should they be worried about something online.

Share our new ParentInfo article which signposts to reporting, advice and support services available for children and their families.

Managing mental health and wellbeing: advice for families
Through our survey, many parents and carers have told us that they are concerned about the impact of COVID-19 on their child’s mental health and wellbeing and access to support services.
Two new Parent Info articles explore how parents and carers can support their child’s mental health, and highlight things they can do to manage the wellbeing challenges of family life under lockdown:

Donnington Wood Strategy Detail 2019- 2020 filled in

Please find attached our review.

Please note the context of coronavirus. Although it did not impact the year April to April, it did reduce our ability to assess the final data.

It will also mean that many of the lessons learnt reflect on the need to continue and extend the support we offer. The new policy is currently being created but it will reflect on this need, and what needs to be done!

Hope, Friendship and Perseverance and our motto TEAM, have never been more important.

Thank you
