Get Telford Walking and Walk to School Week
Get Telford Walking – Sunday 19th May
Get Telford Walking would be a great way to start Walk to School Week (20 – 24 may).
Taking place on Sunday 19th May, Get Telford Walking has over 30 different walks children and families can participate in this weekend.
There are two different walks.
A short walk will be starting at each GP practice in Telford at 10am (with the exception of Shawbirch which starts at 11am).
There are also longer walks again starting from various practices and locations which go onto the Telford T50 trial and converge up at the Town Park at 3pm. These walks are listed on the attached flyer.

A small group of volunteers have come together to coordinate this event. We would really appreciate you promoting this so your pupils and their families can come together and show their support and get more active at the same time!

Pride in Our Community – Surface Dressing

Improvements in your area- Donnington
We will shortly be working in your area as part of the Council’s ‘Pride in Our Community’ investment programme. Between 2018 and 2022 we are investing over £50m in creating a better borough with improvements to roads, footpaths, street lights, road signs, highways structures and green spaces.
In 2019/20 our aim is to further improve our road network and highway assets. Some £12m will be invested during the year, delivering 222 improvement schemes across the borough. These improvements will be achieved in partnership with the Council’s new highways contractor Balfour Beatty.
We will shortly be carrying out Surface Dressing in the locations below, to improve the condition of the existing surface, as well as making the road safer by improving skid resistance and extending its life. The works will be completed by our new partner and highways contractor Balfour Beatty, who will be using their specialist sub-contractor RMS. Further details are shown below.
Surface dressing will be carried out at Donnington Wood Way on Thursday 16th May 2019 and will be expected to last 5 days, weather permitting.
During the delivery of works both roads will remain open and we will be operating a ‘Stop & Go’ traffic management system for vehicles.
Balfour Beatty will be the lead delivering this work in partnership with the Council and our details are below, for any questions or queries relating to this scheme please contact us at our new highways hub:
