OLLEE
Ollee is a digital friend, developed alongside BBC Children in Need to help young children (8-11 years old) understand those big feelings and start conversations with parents. Children can use the app to share worries, get advice, and learn how to talk about feelings with someone they trust. We also have free downloadable support packs for schools and organisations

SUPPORT DIRECTORY
We have a whole directory of services to support families and children with issues from online safety to gambling. This includes mental health services tailored to different age ranges, to help the whole family.

FREE PARENT SESSION: CYBERBULLYING
Thanks to smart devices and social media, bullying can follow children home from the playground. We know it’s a big worry for parents. Our Be Internet Legends programme in partnership with Google offers free live parent sessions with tips and advice for parents. This Cyberbullying session can be watched at any time and you can also let parents know about any upcoming live sessions.

Lateral Flow Tests

Please continue to take the lateral flow tests at home. Please follow the advice in the booklet, and if positive, isolate and let us know. You will then need to book a PCR test to confirm the result.

This is an important procedure as Covid results impact on your child’s class and staff. This helps keep us all safe.

Bank Holiday Reminder: Monday 3rd May is a Bank Holiday and school will be closed. We reopen on Tuesday 4th next week.

DATES: We are still unsure what the future holds and how restrictions will affect our Summer plans. However, we will share these planned dates.

We have planned something outside that should be able to happen, with a Bubble Sports Afternoon we would like to invite parents/families to view.

Online Gaming

Pupils in the school have asked me to discuss gaming safety with them.

Our children are worried about:

  • the language they hear from other gamers
  • the content they see (death, gore and other inappropriate content). This is also giving some children nightmares.
  • People trolling and griefing (new to me!)- sending inappropriate and offensive messages or disrupting and spoiling games.

Road Safety

We have also started our road safety lessons, learning how we can cross the road safely. This is especially important with all the building work, and lorries.

Year 5 is next week and year 3 and 4 later in the term.

Great Day

Today has been a great day!

At one point the whole school was learning outside!

Firstly, thank you to Morris Property who have donated us 10 forks and spades for us to plant new trees and plants around the school.

Secondly, Thank you to Miss Sutton who organised for us to receive those 200 new trees and plants for the school.

Finally, we are all learning about STEAM, and have been engineering planes, moon landers and rockets. Work will be on SeeSaw, but it has been an inspiring day!
