Coronavirus New Government guidelines

Good morning all, Government advice has now changed, this includes: If one person in any household has a persistent cough or fever, everyone living there must stay at home for 14 days. If this applies to you, please let us know by text. We may also have to postpone parents evening (possibly via telephone) and our Easter service. We will update when we know more.

Coronavirus update- school open

Thursday 12th March

Dear parents and carers,

As you will all know, the government has changed its advice to all members of the public.

This information now states: From Friday, everyone with flu-like symptoms – defined as a fever of above 37.8C or a persistent cough – is being asked to stay at home for at least seven days.

Please see the government document link:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-stay-at-home-guidance/stay-at-home-guidance-for-people-with-confirmed-or-possible-coronavirus-covid-19-infection

If this applies to you or your child please contact the school to inform us of this by phone or text message. (Not in person)

Our number one priority is the safety of your children.

Over the next few days and weeks we will update you on any changes. Due to the rapidly changing nature of this situation we ask you to keep checking back onto our website. Rest assured any decision taken will be in line with national policies, health and safety directives and the safety of our school community.

We will use this website as our main news portal, and where possible we will text. Please make sure we have your up to date details.

Rest assured also, that our cleaning team is working flat out to disinfect the school each and every day. Every classroom has hand cleanser out side and we are well prepared for any eventuality.

It is in times like this we are even more proud and driven by our vision and ethos, championing friendship, hope and perseverance.

I am proud to be the head teacher of this wonderful school.

I will update you with any changes.

NEW BEAM WORKSHOP CALENDAR & BANK HOLIDAY CLOSURES

Attendance at Beam

Can we remind you that all attendance at Beam is voluntary, and there can be no expectations that non-attendance is detrimental to any other process (i.e. social work involvement).

Our practitioners are clear when commencing work with any young person or parent/carer that they do not have to attend Beam.

We would like to stress that all are welcome into the service should they wish to engage with us!

Bank Holiday Closures

As previously advised, Beam will be closed over Bank Holiday weekends as well as any Bank Holidays falling on a Monday. Flyer attached with affected dates.

Aside from Bank Holidays, our drop-ins continue to run through all school holidays!

New Workshop Calendar

Please find attached our new workshop calendar for May-July 2020.

**New workshop!** Our new ‘Under pressure?’ workshop focused on stress starts in April for young people aged 13+. Flyer attached!

We will also be running our popular ‘Understanding your emotions’ workshop for primary-aged children again.

Dates on attached calendar. Both will be held in our Wellington & Shrewsbury venues.

Saturday workshops in Wellington…

  • Arts & Crafts will finish at the end of March.
  • Relaxation sessions – we will continue to offer these on the last Saturday of the month in Wellington. These are open to all ages, and parents & carers can join their young people and take part too! See attached flyer.

Our ‘Sleepy heads’ workshop continues to run until April in Wellington & Shrewsbury… Flyer attached!

Beam Service Capacity

We continue to manage how many sessions our practitioners are doing over the course of a drop-in.

Our team work really really hard to see as many of those who visit a drop-in session as possible and I cannot stress enough how determined the team is to give each young person a valuable experience at Beam, but in order to do this we need to carefully manage the volume of sessions being offered.

This is to ensure each young person receives a high-quality service from us, as well as ensuring our team’s welfare is maintained. This means we may take the decision to close the service earlier on some occasions, on the basis that we can have up to 5 drop-in sessions running across the week. When this happens, notices will be displayed.

Also, at times where all of our practitioners are in sessions and we have a number of people waiting to be seen, we will temporarily close the service, asking people to return later in the session or to a different session.

There are occasions where we are physically at capacity – something that is a particular issue on a Saturday at our Wellington venue.

We recognise the importance of young people being supported by those around them, whether that be friends or family, and we understand that accompanying young people to Beam sends a clear message of support. However, large groups can be difficult to accommodate within our venues, and we are asking that visitors to the service consider this before attending.

As always, should you have any queries, please do get in touch via AskBeam.

Did you know…

… we have a mailing list for parents & carers to receive updates from us? Anyone who would like to be added to this can email us at AskBeam.

Anxiety

Did you know?
Anxiety isn’t something to be anxious about! It’s a normal human response to a perceived problem. It only becomes an issue when it becomes a prolonged experience and/or starts to have an impact on day-to-day life.
