Snacks

parents have asked me to share healthy, nut-free, seed-free, and dairy-free snack ideas suitable for junior school children to enjoy at playtime. Our school’s policy promotes nutritious snacks and avoiding chocolate, cakes, and crisps:

🍎 Fresh Fruit Options

β€’ Apple slices (sprinkled with a little lemon juice to prevent browning)

β€’ Banana

β€’ Grapes (cut in half for safety)

β€’ Orange segments or easy-peel mandarins

β€’ Pears

β€’ Berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)

β€’ Melon cubes or watermelon sticks

πŸ₯• Vegetable Snacks

β€’ Carrot sticks

β€’ Cucumber slices

β€’ Cherry tomatoes

β€’ Bell pepper strips

β€’ Sugar snap peas

🍞 Grain-Based Snacks (Dairy/Nut/Seed-Free)

β€’ Plain rice cakes

β€’ Mini pitta bread (wholemeal if possible)

β€’ Breadsticks (check ingredients for dairy)

β€’ Oatcakes (ensure no dairy or seeds)

β€’ Homemade or store-bought dairy-free mini pancakes (e.g., banana oat pancakes)

🍌 Simple Homemade Ideas

β€’ Fruit kebabs: chunks of fruit on a skewer (no sharp ends)

β€’ Dairy-free banana muffins: made with oat flour and fruit puree

β€’ Vegetable wraps: small wraps with hummus (if seed-free) or mashed avocado

βœ… Tips for Parents

β€’ Always check packaging for hidden dairy, nuts, or seeds.

β€’ Avoid processed snacks unless clearly labelled as suitable.

β€’ Keep portions small and easy to eat quickly before playtime.

Flyers for parents information

Good afternoon

Please see attached two flyers on behalf of Telford Bike Hub. We thought they may be of interest to your parents as both take place over October Half Term.

The first flyer advertises our Learn to Ride Sessions which take place all week over half term. The second flyer is for our FREE Halloween family Glow Ride! This is a family bike ride that will be taking place around Telford Town Park, on the 30th October 5:30-6:30pm. Halloween costumes are optional but encouraged and we will be offering bike hire at a special price of Β£3 per hire.
