Dear Parents and Carers,
We are delighted to invite you to our Whole School Sports Afternoon, a fun and friendly event celebrating teamwork, movement, and our school values of hope, friendship, and perseverance.
Date: Tuesday 1st July
Start Time: 1:30 PM
Location: School Field and Running Track
Each class will begin at a designated station and rotate through a series of activities designed to get hearts pumping and smiles growing:
- Year 6PD: Running → Rest Station
- Year 6D: Rest Station → Football Dribbling
- Year 5GB: Football Dribbling → Target Throw
- Year 5B: Target Throw → Standing Long Jump
- Year 4O: Standing Long Jump → Egg and Spoon
- Year 4B: Egg and Spoon → Javelin
- Year 3K: Javelin → Discus
- Year 3R: Discus → Running
We work in our rainbow colours, and you will have a slip telling you which colour you are in. If you have that colour, please wear it, do not buy anything as we will make things.
Families are warmly encouraged to move around the outside of the track with their child’s class and cheer on all the activities. It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the spirit of sport and togetherness.
Please note: activities like javelin and discus involve objects being thrown over a distance. For everyone’s safety, we kindly ask all spectators to remain in the clearly marked viewing areas during these events.
At present, the weather forecast looks favourable. However, in the event of rain, we will cancel the event for safety reasons. We’ll inform you of any changes as early as possible.
We look forward to sharing this special afternoon with you—filled with joy, encouragement, and plenty of proud moments.
Warm regards,
Mr Fox
Nut free school
To All Parents and Guardians,
RE: Introduction of Nut, Seed and Sesame-Free Policy
We are writing to inform you that from this week, Donnington Wood CE Junior School will be implementing a nut-, seed-, and sesame-free policy. This decision has been made to protect several of our pupils who have severe and potentially life-threatening allergies to these foods.
To help us provide a safe environment for all children, we kindly ask that no snacks or packed lunches brought into school contain:
- Peanuts or any type of tree nuts (e.g. almonds, cashews, hazelnuts)
- Nut products (e.g. peanut butter, Nutella)
- Seeds (including sunflower, pumpkin, chia, flax)
- Sesame or sesame-based products (e.g. hummus, tahini, sesame seed bread)
Even small traces of these ingredients can cause serious allergic reactions, and accidental contact — such as sharing food — poses a significant risk.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we introduce this important measure. Please check ingredient labels carefully and feel free to contact the school office if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you for helping us to keep all children in our school safe and well.
Yours sincerely,
Mr Fox

Governor pen portrait Mrs Brown
My name is Anne-Marie Brown and I’m very proud to have been appointed as one the Parent Governors for Donnington Wood Junior School.
Not only have I had a child attend the school for the last four years, I have also been in the unique position of having worked as the School Catering Supervisor between 2021 and 2025, therefore I have an in depth understanding of the School Values and the hard work that goes into making the school a fantastic environment for every child, plus the insight that comes from a Parents perspective. I look forward to contributing towards Donnington Wood Junior School future achievements.
